AKISinteract tool

Why this tool?

Interactions and knowledge flows among actors within Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS) are key to the effective functioning and innovation of agri-food systems.

Collecting both quantitative and qualitative data on these dynamics is essential to assess the level of integration, facilitate knowledge exchange, and support informed decision-making at both local and national levels.

This open-source web application, freely accessible to AKIS coordination bodies, researchers, and other interested users, is an innovative tool for mapping and analysing interactions among AKIS actors.

By completing a dedicated questionnaire — which ensures full anonymity — users can generate a visual representation of perceived connections, disaggregated by professional category, region, and country.

This allows managing authorities, advisors, evaluators, and researchers to immediately visualise the state of connectivity and collaboration within local AKIS, identifying both strengths and areas for improvement.

Transparency and accessibility are further enhanced by publishing the results on the AKISconnect.eu portal, promoting data sharing and the dissemination of good practices across Europe.

In short, the structured collection of this information not only supports better AKIS governance, but also strengthens awareness and engagement among system actors.

Be part of your AKIS — help map the relationships that shape innovation across the EU!
