The competitiveness of the different regional olivicultures could be assessed by mean of ad hoc proxies directly obtainable by the balance sheets of olive farms themselves. Exploiting the data coming from the FADN databases, this paper aims to compare economic performances of olive farms situated in regions with a strong tradition in olive growing. The variables have been arranged in chains of indexes in order to become to a definition of the strengths and weaknesses that characterize the various regional olivicultures. Two different strategies has been found and discussed: the first one aims to costs containment, the other one is instead devoted to enhance productions value.
